The National Karting Alliance, more commonly known as the NKA, was founded in 1985 as an independent alliance of tracks, clubs, and promoters. Founder Don Janowski noted a lack of assistance for these groups when it came to event planning, risk management and event liability programs. Where standard sanctioning bodies in kart racing have taken over operations of karting events, the NKA stresses the independence of its membership. This hands-off approach has propelled the NKA to the nation’s premier source of products and services for karting and small vehicle racing across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Today, the NKA has over 350 facilities in its system, with over 4000 events held per year. It handles programs for karting facilities of all kinds. This includes weekly track programs, practice programs and corporate programs. The NKA also assists many groups with programs for Legends cars, Dwarf cars, Baby Grands, Lawn Mower racing, Go-Ped racing, Mini-cup cars, Mini-Sprints, Micro-Midgets, Motards, Pocketbikes, and many more.
